Gregory Orr on writing poetry

I love this quote by Gregory Orr from the anthology The Generation of 2000: Contemporary American Poets:

The kind of poem that interests me is one that is called into being as a response to a negation of meaning. The poet’s primary task is to discover or create meaning; the poem’s task is to embody meaning.
